Workshops

With an emphasis on enhancing learning through highly engaging and interactive instruction, ISAC encourages the submission of workshops proposals for CYTO 2025 from researchers, shared laboratory personnel, professors and/or practitioners in all settings to offer expertise to the Cytometry profession. All workshop proposals are assessed and scored by multiple reviewers through ISAC’s Education Committee.
The deadline for submissions has passed.
IMPORTANT DEADLINES:
- Submission site opens: September 23, 2024
- Workshop Proposal Submission Deadline: Closed
- Workshops Notified of Acceptance: December 20, 2024
Workshops are intended to provide CYTO attendees with an interactive forum in which to discuss cytometry-related problems and work toward consensus solutions. Workshop proposals should have an emphasis on areas involving controversy or lack of consensus on best practices that will generate healthy discussion.
Ideal Workshop Proposals
The Society is looking for proposals that:
- Articulate a topic that is focused on research, methodologies, best practices, or core operations in focus; or that propose a new approach based on documented shortcomings of current approaches.
- Explore concepts in an interactive, learner-focused, engaging format.
- Take a deep dive into the potential impact of findings and explore how those impacts may apply to various aspects of the field.
- Focus in on different perspectives or points of view through professional discourse and respectful dialogue.
- Provide innovative, compelling content across all learning levels: basic, intermediate, and advanced level proposals are all welcome.
Workshops will be scheduled in concurrent 60-minute sessions throughout the Congress. Members from all areas of cytometry — Industry, Shared Resource Labs, and Institutions doing basic, translational, and clinical research — are encouraged to submit proposals for workshops relevant to their needs.
Workshop proposals should define current practices, discuss limiting issues, and generate an action plan. The specific format is less important than its appropriateness to the problem being addressed and the objective of productive interactions among Congress attendees. However, a format should be defined in the proposal. Although workshops are often educational for participants new to areas impacted by the workshop topic, they are not intended to be didactic sessions per se (in contrast with tutorials). Any presentation(s) should be concise and stimulate engaging discussion of the workshop topic.

Preparing for Your Online Submission
The Society uses an online submission system for presentations. For a proposal to be considered, submissions will only be accepted through the online submission site, must contain all the required elements, and be completed by the deadline. The following information is required for submission:
- Workshop Title
- Intended Audience
- Problem Focus/Key Questions
- Format/Agenda
- Desired Workshop Outcome
To help develop an exciting set of problem-focused, solution-oriented workshops relevant to attendee interests, the workshop reviewers will use the following guidelines when selecting workshop proposals for inclusion in the Congress program:
- The problem focus should be clearly defined and include a list of 3 to 5 key questions to be addressed during the workshop;
- The intended audience should be clearly defined (i.e., core directors, SRL staff, scientists, etc.), and an estimate of likely group size included;
- A detailed agenda or format should be included, specifying the number and length of any formal presentations and the name(s) of any proposed speakers or panel members;
- A list of 3 - 5 desired workshop outcomes (preferably action items) should be included, and workshop authors are expected to share these outcomes with the ISAC community.
