Congress Location

The Congress will take place at the Baltimore Convention Center located at 1 West Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD 21201. The Baltimore Convention Center is nestled in the heart of the Inner Harbor and within steps of the finest hotels and restaurants and only 8.3 miles-21.5 kilometers north of the Baltimore Washington International Airport and 2.2 miles-3.6 kilometers from Baltimore Penn Station.
 
If traveling from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) or Ronald Reagan International Airport (DCA), allow for up to 1 hour and 30 minutes of travel time. IAD is approximately 60 miles-96.5 kilmometers west of Baltimore and DCA is approximately 44 miles-77 kilometers south of Baltimore.
 

Visitor's Information

The Visitors Center located on 401 Light Street on the West Shore of Baltimore's Inner Harbor.It is 8,000 square feet and has an array of brochures, pamphlets and maps for tours, restaurants and other local attractions. The friendly staff can assist with information, tickets, transportation, and reservations.
 

Banking and Foreign Exchange

The official currency in the United States is US Dollars. The US Dollar ($) is divided into 100 cents; notes are in denominations of $100, 50, 20, 10, 5 and 1. Banking hours in the United States are generally Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00. A few banks are open on Saturdays as well. You can withdraw money from ATM bank machines using your credit card and make purchases in stores and restaurants. Signs display accepted credit cards or you can ask the retailer. Check with your local financial institution to verify if you are able to use your home bank card or credit card prior to travel.

There are two ATM bank machines located inside the Baltimore Convention Center in the Charles Street lobby and the Howard Lobby. There are also several banking institutions within walking distance. Currency may be exchanged at Banks or currency exchange stores for a fee. Travelex currency exchange kiosks are available in the Baltimore Washington International Airport in the Main Terminal near Concourse D.

Dialing Codes

The International access code for the United States is 1. The area code in downtown Baltimore and City of Baltimore is 410. If you are in the city of Baltimore or downtown Baltimore, you do not need to dial 410 before making a call. While in the United States, you can call the directory information service number 411 for assistance in finding a phone number. Calls to area codes 800, 888, 877, and 866 are toll-free in the United States. To make an international call, dial 011 followed by the country code, city code, and telephone number.
 

Eating Out

Downtown Baltimore is filled with a variety of dining options; from fine dining to casual as well as coffee shops and bars within walking distance of the Baltimore Convention Center.
 

Electricity

Voltage in the United States is 120 voltage (60 HZ). Outlet sockets use either a Type A plug which is a class II ungrounded plug with two flat parallel prongs, or a Type B plug which is a class I plug with two flat parallel prongs and a grounding pin.
 

Language

The official language of the Congress is English. Translation service is not be provided.

 

Name Badge

The ISAC badge must be worn at all times for admission to the scientific sessions, exhibits, and social events.
 

Smoking Policy

Smoking is not permitted in public buildings, restaurants or bars.

 

Tax

Sales tax in Baltimore is 6%.

 

Tipping

Restaurant prices do not generally include a service charge; it is customary to give a tip of 15-20%.
 

Transportation

 Light Rail

The Light Rail Service is provided by the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) to and from BWI Marshall Airport.

Light Rail service is available to downtown Baltimore from BWI Marshall Airport. The Light Rail is located on the lower level of the main terminal near Customs. There is only one fare for the train at $1.60 each way. Please click here for more information.

 

When taking the Light Rail, get off at the Convention Center stop to easily get to to the Marriott Inner Harbor, Days Inn, Hampton Inn, and the Convention Center.

 
Shuttle Service
Shuttle Express offers Scheduled Share Ride Service with several departures to every zip code each hour, 24 hours a day. You can save money with the multiple-rider Share Ride discounts and children 12 years of age and under always ride free with a paying adult for airport transfers. The cost of shuttle service to the Downtown Baltimore area is approximately $13 one way/$26 roundtrip per person. Passenger pick up/drop off is located on the first level of the Baltimore Washington airport near baggage claim. For information or to make a reservation, please call (800) 622-2089. Taxi Cabs and Limousines
The taxi stand is located just outside of the baggage claim area of the Lower Level of the BWI Marshall terminal. Please note that this service is available from BWI Marshall only. For cab service to BWI Marshall, please consult your local cab company. BWI Marshall taxicabs are prohibited from charging flat rates. Trip Planning

BWI Marshall introduces the Ground Access Information System, a trip planning tool featuring detailed route and itinerary information for a variety of travel options, including rail, shared van rides, taxis and private cars. The system provides real time traffic information provided by Inrix for your trip to the airport or to Metro area destinations from BWI Marshall Airport. Additionally, travelers can obtain a list of area lodging, including routes and itineraries to and from the lodging locations.
